Poem: Looking for Knowledge | Ololade Nafisat Ejemdibia

When you look for knowledge,
You’re like a baby fox
In a dark burrow.
There’s nothing around you but rock,
And there’s no way to know which way is out.
You can’t see anything at all.
The only thing you can do is bite.
So you dig your teeth into the rock,
And pull on it with all your strength,
Until the rock begins to crumble.
Then you bite again, and again, and again, until
one day…
You make a hole in the rock
Big enough to squeeze through,
And when you do—
When finally you emerge into the light—
Your eyes are opened wide
